Presence of a Goddess that wasn't supposed to be known about was common knowledge in the local community.  Though De kept to herself most of the time, training and making rent out of her own kitchen, anyone who should happen across her should know.  It's not like her training gave her much chance to hide her aura after all.  One can only do that through casting dormancy or reducing their abilities by choice for an extended period.  She was maintaining over a dozen spells at all times and trying to push herself further when she had the chance.
Hardred Tribe simply accepted it.  Though many of them recognized that there may be a cover up, the cause of their freedom may have very well been the existence of a Goddess amongst their number rather than a story about the Lavorian who when missing.  The latter made a better story however.  Somehow the tribe remained close-knit and ready to protect her while she studied to bec

"What's wrong with your aura?" Lu broke the silence.
It was nearing dinnertime where they were before the teleportation, but where they ended there was still another hour before that point.  The sky was much clearer, and the air was warmer.  Without the towering buildings in every direction, you could actually spot a natural horizon, mountaintops to the west, something Max thought wouldn't occur within the "endless" city.  There was less noise and fewer pedestrians, but every corner had a restaurant, or any other business you could possibly need that didn't stand out as much at the mental state Max was in.
"Unlike Lora," Max answered, "I'd rather not deal with everyone knowing what I am.  The possibility of me becoming an object of worship just doesn't sit right with me."
"I could agree with you there," Lu turned to spot the street sign that marked their location, "We're here, it was a house with a red roof."
They looked down the street to realiz

A Game about Dreams
"Real" world logic should be suspended for the entirety of the game.  If it vaguely sounds like it could possibly happen in a dream, it's fair play.  There's nothing saying the Dreamers couldn't sprout wings to approach a dark tower, but still have to climb to the top by running up the stairs.
Statistics allow players to attempt things, but each has a beneficial factor from being high or low.  Thus stats are completely up to choice for their values.  They each represent a vague aspect of a personality, nothing is as constant as physical qualities or cognitive ability.
--Core Mechanic--
A roll of 1d6+2dF needs to be equal to or within a chosen direction of the Attribute in question.
An Attribute can be any value between 1 and 6, as determined by the Dreamer.  There is no other restriction on how stats are allotted.
For Example, trying to attack a Scary Thing, requires a roll equal to or under Courage, while Sneaking past it requires a ro

24-Chance Meeting
It was two hours before dinnertime when Max and Lu set off on their journey.  They opted to use one of the public teleport chambers as while the school's had a smaller fee, the public chambers had the option to pay without renting an operator.  There was no way of telling when they would be returning home, and it turned out Max was a pretty talented Mage.  Lu was coming to terms with Max being a surprising study.
As they walked, Max remained quiet, studying various other pedestrians as they passed by, for no apparent reason.  The practice seemed only a little odd, as Lu would often be studying the crowds to notice potential threats, but she had become lax when she realized that it just didn't happen as often as she'd like.  Having all the combat skill in the world mattered little when you didn't get a good chance to show off.  But if ever a mugger ever did hold her up, she'd be ready for him.
It was at that moment that she rea

With a heavy sigh, Max rechecked the sign posted next to the classroom door and cross referenced it with his schedule.  Part of the deal he made, was that his sponsor would choose his classes for him, and for whatever reason, a class labeled "Reflective Writing" made the list for his first semester.  He lingered a little longer than he intended, stepping in after another student aggressively pushed passed him.
The classroom had a sort of setup that reminded Max a little too much of kindergarten.  The students sat at desks that seemed a little larger for whatever reason, like they were set up to handle small arts and crafts projects, except that each desk had seating for two.
Immediately, he scanned the room for any desk that was still completely empty, failing that he tried for someone who appeared to be of relative poverty.  Then he noticed a familiar face, Lu occupied a desk near the back of the room, and the other seat was still empty.

Day one, three classes, all before lunch.
History of Dellot was a fun class, or at least the professor made it so.  He was a little nutty, and didn't take his job too seriously.  Expecting that half the class already know everything he was going to say, and the other half knowing nothing, he tried presenting his own observations (though made it clear that he wasn't going to test on them too often), and asked for opinions and observations of the students often.  The interactivity made Max feel comfortable, even if many of the other students couldn't handle him having an opinion of his own.
The city began as a small farming community only three thousand years ago.  Eventually one Spheric Goddess of Earth built her temple there, and the pilgrims, paladins, and other business it brought attracted people in mass. It grew into a city that continued to expand to the horizon, engulfing other towns, later entire countries, until it covered so much of the

20-Tour
Somewhere near the end of his tour, Max started loosening up.  Riku had taught him a spell that masked his aura, making it difficult to notice his immense power.  Whenever someone was curious about who he was, it was due to him being a Lavorian, which seemed a little more manageable.  The problem was that the mask actually reduced his abilities, and while he was still a capable mage, it left him feeling a little venerable.  Constantly reminding himself that there was no longer an assassin order after him had become necessary at this point.
They were walking through the park that was surrounded by the different buildings that built up the school.  Despite being in the middle of a busy city, with a population in the trillions, the campus was very quiet and peaceful.  Only a few other students were actively traversing the park, and the layer of trees mostly obscuring the buildings kept the noise of the city out.
As they passed by

Impact threw her out of stance, as jab landed cleanly in her abdomen.  Not quite capable of returning ready to block fast enough, she felt a hard hook to the side of her face.  The pain was easy to handle, but her balance was lost, and if she couldn't reclaim it, the fight was lost.
The opponent backed off, gloating.  He wasn't a thinker, just knew how to throw a punch and roughly how to take one.  The brute wasn't aware that he had just thrown it all away.  He even went so far as to show his back.
Taking the opportunity, she placed a blow on the back of his head, not full strength, but enough to get his attention.  When he turned around, she stepped in too close for him to comfortably ready himself and gave him a fast strait to his amble belly.  His response was to try and grab her, but she was too quick and easily slid under his grasp.  She twisted around behind him, and reached under with one leg to pull

Max woke to find himself in the same bed they left him in before.  This time, he wasn't alone, Lora was above him, examining his arm, and talking casually to others in the room.  Realizing he was awake, she stepped back from the bed.  Sitting up and examining the wound, Max found it had already closed up again, probably some sort of magic. He glanced around the room to find Riku and one of the maids observing Lora's work.
"How long have I been out?" Max yawned loudly.
"About three hours," Riku pulled himself up off the wall he was leaning against.
Relieved to no longer have people out to kill him, Max noticed that he wasn't wearing a shirt, but his own wasn't to be found.  His sudden self-cautiousness aside, he looked up at Lora, "So, how did you get here?"
"Even took me hostage," Lora glared off into nothing, "He was trying to trade me off for you."
"And Des declined?" Max fished.
Riku spoke first, "She did, but by that time we were already figh

"Are you sure this way will be safe?"
Riku paused, "Not at all, it's a complete gamble, but if we had followed Clyde, we'd have run into trouble."
They continued down the dark tunnel under the mansion, it twisted and turned without reason, and hadn't been cleaned  in months.  Each corner they past left Max worrying that something was following them just out of sight.  Creatures crawling in the darkness around them.
Then he caught something directly, a ghost or something.  It had to be a hallucination, or something, a swirling mass of ectoplasm with an empty face.  It swam past them and headed forth.  It took Max a moment to process it, but suddenly he knew exactly what they would see around the corner.
"Wait," Max stopped running and tried to catch his breath, "We're not alone down here."
Riku stopped, and started to sniff around.  He couldn't catch anything.  He took a moment to cast a spell, if it weren't

"You let down your guard again," Riku dropped his wooden sword onto the rack, "You're tired."
"No, we've only been going since we woke," Max let the sarcasm drop, "Is it lunch yet?"
Glancing at how the shadows fell in the room, "We missed it."
"Oh," Max threw his arms up and did a few stretches.
Riku drew into his tunic and tossed an item at Max, it was a small wrapped item.  It smelt edible, but what it was made of remained a mystery.  It tasted like beans and bell peppers or some sort of dried meat.  It was gone before he even realized he was eating it.
"You're already able to hold your own against me," Riku bit into his own lunch, "Strait on anyways, after only half of our period.  You take to fighting naturally."
"But I keep losing, how will I stand up to anyone?"
"Our goal isn't to stand up to anyone, we're trying to get you as far away from danger as possible."
"That actually makes a lot more sense," Max laughed a little at himself, "I thou

"A message, Trisham," one of the new kids, Kiln she thought, entered the room and addressed them in her quiet, overly cautious voice.  She had only recently been rescued from a terrible massacre, but Eisha knew little of the details as the goal of the operation was to keep the information on the Arcana shrouded.
Taking the note in hand, Eisha smiled and responded, "Thank you."
Kiln bowed shallowly, then rushed awkwardly out of the room.  She wasn't quite comfortable with other people yet.  Either way, they needed to discuss something she wasn't to hear.  Not yet.
"You said something about Torrid's find?" Tal tried to change the subject.
"Yeah," Eisha shifted her weight in the chair, "Apparently the rumor was false.  That champion she found wasn't actually Cloud.  Disappointing."
"Maybe things aren't quite as they seem," Tal took a sip of her tea.
"Male and Fire Aligned."
"That's not what I meant."

Max awoke in a bed, a soft, comfortable bed.  It took him a moment to feel the sting in his arm, but then he was acutely aware of his surroundings.  It was early morning, as the light in the windows showed, and he was alone in what appeared to be a guest room in a mansion.  At least, he thought it would have to be a mansion as the room was almost as large as his own back in Texas.
It was furnished lightly, there was a single chest of drawers across the room from the bed, and a changing screen lined up against its side.  A desk with a mirror and a single chair laid on either side of him.  There was a brief moment where he wanted nothing more than to go back to sleep, but curiosity got the better of him so he dropped out of bed onto his feet, and before anything else, he approached the mirror.
He looked like shit.  At least, the bit he could tell.  He was without his glasses and quite worried that they wouldn't be retu

So, I now serve Ice Cream for a living.

Expensive Ice Cream...

And it's pretty awesome, especially since my work week is shorter than my weekend...  possibly because my work week is the weekend.  It pays the bills...  but not much else.  So I guess I'm going to keep looking for a second, though I kind of doubt they'll keep me working so little with the fact that there's four people on the entire crew.

But whatever.

Life is good.
  • Listening to: Ludo
  • Reading: Dresden Files
  • Watching: Soul Eater... again.
  • Playing: WoW (Thought I'd see how it developed)
  • Eating: Free Ice Cream
  • Drinking: Water... Lots of it
